About the property

A place we built for our own family first.

We always had a dream of building in the heart of Nelson County — somewhere to take our kids, and somewhere to share with friends and family.

What went up is two new homes on ten acres of meadow, woods, and mountain views, The decor is modern but not cold; the idea was that it should feel like somewhere you live rather than somewhere you're staying.

We're a little over half an hour from Charlottesville and just under three hours from Washington, which turns out to be exactly far enough.

“The space looks even better than the pictures, and the view is perfect for a quaint weekend by the wineries. Comfy beds and lots of room to spread out. We're already planning our next trip.”

“Lovely, clean and well maintained. The location is peaceful and private. If you are an avid birder, come prepared — many species, including the Indigo Bunting.”

“Gorgeous home with stunning views. Exactly as described, clean, and comfortable. Will definitely re-book when I come back.”

“What stood out most was the nature: beautiful sunrises with a good view of the mountains, a lush meadow, herds of deer, lots of bunnies, and more fireflies than I've seen in a long time.”

Good to know

Questions guests ask

Can I book both homes at once?

Yes — Hilltop House and the Cottage sit on the same ten acres, and families and small groups often take both. Check the dates on each home, then send a note and it can be arranged as one stay.

Is it cheaper to book direct?

Booking direct carries a 4% booking fee. The listing sites add a guest service fee several times larger at checkout, so the same dates usually come out lower here. The nightly rate and cleaning fee are identical either way — and you'll see the full total, tax included, before you send a request.

How far is the nearest winery?

Minutes. Blue Mountain Brewery, Afton Mountain Vineyards and Veritas are all a short drive, and the wider Brew Ridge Trail is on your doorstep. The area guide has the full list with drive times.

What's the check-in process?

Self check-in with a keypad code, sent before arrival along with directions and parking notes. Check-in is any time from 3pm — there's no cut-off, so a late arrival after a long drive is fine. Checkout is 10am.

Is the property good for a family with kids?

Hilltop House sleeps seven across three bedrooms with a two-story great room, so it suits families and multi-generational groups. The Cottage sleeps up to four with a pullout in the living room.

Do you allow pets?

While we love animals, we don't allow pets at either home — partly for guests with allergies, partly to keep both houses in the condition people expect.

The meadow is quiet this time of year.

Live availability and real pricing for both homes — no fee added by a middleman.
